Leslie Williams is Vassar College's Education Outreach Coordinator and a member of the faculty in the education department. He is responsible for promoting community-wide dialogue and cultivating collaborative relationships in the City of Poughkeepsie that foster the ideals and vision of the Vassar College Urban Education Initiative (VCUEI). His primary objective in this role is to develop and implement sustainable strategies/programs in partnership with community stakeholders that enhance Vassar's ability to support student achievement and the instructional effectiveness of teachers in the Poughkeepsie City School District (PCSD), specifically. He works with several committees on-campus to synergize the collective efforts of on-/off-campus stakeholder groups to operationalize VCUEI's mission and attain its goals. In an earlier life, he taught fifth and sixth grades at the Choir Academy in New York City, feeder school for the Boys Choir of Harlem, and Warring Magnet Academy in the Poughkeepsie City School District.
